7pm Livestream concert premiering ‘The Tionól Suite’ by Ernestine Healy, from the Malthouse, Stradbally, Co. Laois

Free to view on the Music Generation Laois Facebook Page, not open to a live audience.

‘The Tionól Suite’ composed by Ernestine Healy, a large scale composition project, created for Tionól 2023 to mark 10 years of Music Generation Laois. Commissioned by Music Generation Laois and funded by the Music Generation/Arts Council Partnership Creativity and Collaboration Fund, ‘The Tionól Suite’ will be performed by young Tionól harpers and pipers and the Music Generation Laois Trad Orchestra

 

Also featuring performances by:

  • Claasagh, directed by Rachel Hair. A youth harp ensemble from the Isle of Man
  • Tionól Musician Educators
  • Music Generation Laois Senior Harp Ensemble, launching ‘The Spirit of Laois Suite,’ an album featuring music composed by Michael Rooney for Music Generation Laois in 2017. The commissioning and recording of ‘The Spirit of Laois’ is supported by Creative Ireland Laois.

12.30pm-1.30pm Tionól Student Closing Party featuring Michael McGoldrick (flute/pipes), Andy Morrow (fiddle), Leonard Barry (uilleann pipes) & Shane McGowan (guitar). Dunamase College Campus, Tower Hill, R32 RR84. Free admission, all students to stay on and attend.

7pm Tionól Closing Party 2023, Andy Bergins, Portlaoise/Admission Free of Charge
