Summer Programmes 2023
Music Generation Laois Summer programmes include a Trad Summer School and a Summer School of Rock and Pop in late June/ July 2023.
These music programmes offer young musicians the opportunity to further develop their music skills, take part in concerts, and make new friends!
Trad Summer School 2023
28, 29, 30 June. Dunamaise College Railway Street Campus, Portlaoise, Co. Laois,
Fee: €60, Age: 8 upwards
Times: 11am-3pm Daily (Wed, Thurs) 11am-4.30pm (Fri) including a student concert on Friday.
Laoise Kelly (harp), Michael Rooney (harp), Tommy Fitzharris (tin whistle/flute), June McCormack (flute), Aogán Lynch (concertina), Colm McGonigle (concertina), Dale McKay (bodhrán), Colm Phelan (bodhrán), Alain Carroll (uilleann pipes), Muireann Ní Shé (uilleann pipes),
Instrumental classes and ensemble playing opportunities open to Tin Whistle, Trad Flute, Concertina, Uilleann Pipes, Bodhrán and Harp.
Open to recent beginners to advanced students. Students will be placed in classes as per Summer School tutor recommendations.
Summer School of Rock and Pop 2023, 26 June – 7 July
Fee: €100 Age: 10-18
Times: Monday – Friday 11am-3.30pm except Friday 7 July. Friday 7 July times are 12noon – 7pm including final show. Lunchbreaks supervised, 1pm-1.30pm daily
Music Generation Laois’ annual Summer School of Rock and Pop will take place from Monday-Friday across 2 weeks, giving young musicians the chance to come together, jam, write original music, get to grips with music technology, take part in Open Mics and build confidence as performing musicians.
