Laois Festival of Flight presents:

‘The Impossible Dream’, Saturday 9 April, 3pm St Peter’s Church of Ireland, Portlaoise, Co. Laois

A Performance of The Impossible Dream by Martin Tourish and the Music Generation Laois Trad Orchestra, with talks on the history and future of aviation and exploration in Laois and Ireland will take place in St Peter’s Church of Ireland, Portlaoise, on Sunday 9 April at 3pm. 

The Impossible Dream by Martin Tourish and the Music Generation Laois Trad Orchestra  celebrates the life of Colonel James Fitzmaurice. Colonel Fitzmaurice was a pioneering aviator from Portlaoise who was part of the first successful transatlantic aircraft flight from East to West in 1928.  The Music Generation Laois Trad Orchestra features over 30 musicians and is directed by Siobhan Buckley.

This event is part of the Laois Festival of Flight, which takes place from April 7-10 2022, in celebration the rich history of aviation and exploration in Laois with music events, arts and science workshops, history talks and films.
