Isle of Song

Isle of Song, an exciting new song-writing project with children and young people from Laois, Offaly and across Northern Ireland!

Music Generation Laois, in partnership with The Nerve Centre in Derry, launch ‘Isle of Song’!

Isle of Song is a song-writing project for children and young people aged between 10 and 18 from Laois, Offaly and Northern Ireland.

If you play an instrument, sing, or just can’t stop jamming to your favourite tunes, we’ve got something special for you!

Isle of Song will bring together 50 young musicians from all over Ireland, North and South, to create, collaborate, and develop original music!

You’ll get to experience the magic of working in a band, two residential music camps, travelling to new places, writing, recording and releasing an album and performing at two music festivals!

Isle of Song will introduce you to professional musicians who will mentor you through the creative and performance process!

In short participants will:

  • Develop musicianship and song-writing skills
  • Form a band with other young musicians
  • Write & Record an album with young musicians from all over Ireland
  • Receive mentoring and one-to-one support
  • Perform @ Two Music Festivals

All that’s required to participate is your voice and/or instrument and a creative spirit!

50 places are available.

Applications from marginalised/seldom heard children and young people will be prioritised (children and young people who have fewer opportunities and more obstacles in life) – see extract from Creative Ireland’s Creative Youth Plan 2023-2027 HERE
