  • Keyboard/piano players
  • Drum Kit
  • Brass (saxophone, trumpet) players

There are currently 2 Jam sessions already available to Music Generation Laois and Laois School of Music students – which Tutors refer students on to, on Wednesdays and Fridays. The concept of the Saturday Jam is, therefore, an opportunity for more advanced students only based on an audition process, working with Paul McIntyre.

Times: Saturdays 12:30pm-1:30pm

Standard: For intermediate to advanced players, who have been playing for 3 years or more

Cost: Free of charge to Music Generation Laois and Laois School of Music students

Non- Music Generation Laois and Laois School of Music students will pay €15 membership between now and Christmas (remainder of Term 1), and €50 for Term 2 if the pilot continues (Jan-June 2018).

How to apply: Spaces are allocated on an audition basis – send an email to musicgenerationlaois@laoiscoco.ie with your name, DOB, instrument(s), standard (how many years you have been playing, any significant performances or achievements in this time), Parent/Guardian contact telephone number and home address.

As this is an advanced ensemble, expression of interest emails are to come from young people, applications made by parents/guardians on behalf of their child will not be accepted.

Deadline for receipt of emails: 12noon Friday 17 November 2017

Auditions: Auditions will take place from 12:30pm-1:30pm on Saturday 18 November 2017

Easter Stampede Drumming Workshop

2444a09a-70c1-4f45-a2c3-282d4d9539f1

This Easter saw the beginning of the Laois County Stampede Drumming Group led by Eddie O’Neill.

Forty drumming students from a number of primary schools in County Laois came together to perform as a large-scale drumming ensemble. All the students participating come from schools who participate in the Stampede Drumming programme.

The students, led by our Stampede Drumming tutor Eddie O’Neill, were introduced to new drums, new rhythms, patterns and techniques in an intense two-days of learning. We look forward to seeing their progress over the next few years as this ensemble develops.
