Music Generation Laois/Laois Partnership Company Glee Club – Call for Submissions for a Glee Club Leader
Music Generation Laois work in association with Laois Partnership to deliver the Glee Club programme in 3 locations in Laois:
Mountrath
Mountmellick
Portlaoise
Music Generation Laois are now seeking submissions from an experienced Music Practitioner, with experience of leading popular music choirs, to deliver the Glee Club programme for the 2013-2014 Academic year in Mountrath, Mountmellick and Portlaoise.
The Glee Club Leader will design and deliver a performance music programme (singing) for Glee Club participants, that includes a strong popular repertoire for club members to perform, that appeals to their musical interests/ age / abilities. The Glee Club Leader will work with the Glee Club Movement/ Choreography Tutor and the Music Generation Laois Co-ordinator in the design and delivery of the Glee Club Programme.
Closing date for completed submissions is:12 noon,Friday 11 October 2013.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on: Tuesday 15 October in Portlaoise.
Come visit us at our stand at the National Ploughing Championships 2013, Tuesday 24 September to Thursday 26 September, Ratheniska, Co Laois! We will have an interactive stall in the Laois County Council Tent (V361) with instruments, and video footage from our programmes.
On Wednesday 25 September @ 12:30pm, our Stampede Drumming Group from The Rock NS, Mountmellick, Co Laois. will perform at The Ploughing Championships 2013. These wonderful young drummers will perform using djembes, bass drums and congas under the direction of their Tutor, Eddie O Neill.
School of Rock and Pop Roadshow, 3-5pm Laois Shopping Centre, Portlaoise, Friday 20 September 2013
Music Generation Laois will bring their School of Rock and Pop Roadshow to Laois Shopping Centre for Culture Night 2013 from 3pm-5pm. Children and young people will have the opportunity to try out bass, acoustic and electric guitar, drums and keyboard. The School of Rock and Pop Tutors will be on-hand to give advice on the wonderful programme planned for Rock and Pop in Laois. On Saturday 21 September, The School of Rock and Pop will be launched in the Portlaoise Youth Café, with affordable group lessons, band time and performance opportunities.
Music Generation Laois Grupa Cheoil performance as part of James Fintan Lalor Inaugural School 2013, 7pm Dunamaise Theatre and Arts Centre, Portlaoise, Friday 20 September 2013
Music Generation Laois Grupa Cheoil will perform in the Dunamaise Theatre on Friday 20 September, as part of the launch of The James Fintan Lalor Inagural School 2013 marking Culture Night 2013 in Laois. A new Play by Mike Finn ‘From the Sod to the Sky’ starring Paul Meade and Myles Dungan will be premiered as part of this event, based on the writings of James Fintan Lalor a Significant Laois-born writer, and political activist.

Lets Make Music!
15-19 July, Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise
A week of music-making with Tutors from the renowned Newpark College of Music in Dublin – This camp caters for musicians and singers of all ages and musical backgrounds. Participants will learn new musical styles, from jazz and Indian rhythms to improvisation, and put together a show to be performed on the Theatre Stage on Friday 19 July.
